The pattern of learning by example is a great way to transfer knowledge and reinforce understanding.

This article presents a collection of example Business Questions, curated over a decade of iterating and refining the Information Product Canvas pattern template.

To protect confidentiality, the examples have been adapted and anonymised to preserve each organisation’s competitive advantage, while retaining the core essence of their original context.


SaaS ScaleUp Revenue Metrics

  • What is the Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) trend over the last 12 months?

  • How much Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) are we generating across all customer segments?

  • What is the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) for each customer segment?

  • How much revenue is being added through expansion (up-sells, cross-sells) each month?

  • What percentage of recurring revenue is retained after accounting for churn and expansion (Net Revenue Retention)?

  • What is the contribution of each channel to total MRR and ARR?

  • What percentage of total revenue comes from new vs. existing customers?


Willibald Core Earning Values

  • How much revenue are we generating?

  • How does our forecasted revenue compare to the plan?

  • What was the revenue for a roadshow?

  • How many customers did we meet at a roadshow?

  • What is the average time between requested and actual delivery dates?

  • What percentage of orders are delivered outside the expected timeframe?

  • What is the breakdown of orders by delivery status?

  • What percentage of orders are delivered on time?

  • What orders have not been delivered on time?
