This Information Product Canvas provides an example of a Core Earnings Value (Makes Money) information product for an fictional organisation in the Horticulture industry.
This canvas is derived from a fictional company ‘Willibald’, created to provide example use cases and representative data for testing and comparing Data Vault Automation tools.

Patterns
Data Sync by Data Source
The Data Sync area has different requirements for website data compared to roadshow data. The Will / Won’t area clarifies how the misaligned Data Sync will be managed.
Differing ‘What’ Event Names
The ‘What’ in the events is “Orders” for the website and “Purchases” for the roadshow.
Notes in the Event Area
The Event area provides additional context, highlighting that two different systems capture transactions.
Most senior stakeholder is Product Owner
The most senior person in the organisation, the “Senior Chef”, is identified as the Product Owner.
Emulate
Define Data Sync at the Information Product or source system level, ensuring clarity on how the Information Product will deal with any disparities in data refresh frequency.
Use business terms when capturing Events. The data team will determine during the design step whether they are truly different events or simply aliases for the same event.
Add context to canvas areas to support the data team during the design and build steps.
In small organisations, senior leaders often act as Product Owners, however ensure they will be available for at least 50% of their time during the design and build steps.
