Persona Template
create fictional representations of typical user or stakeholder groups, outlining their role, goals, challenges, and interactions with data
Personas are a pattern used to create fictional representations of typical user or stakeholder groups, outlining their role, goals, challenges, and interactions with data.
Defining personas helps data teams design Information Products that align with stakeholder needs by clarifying how different types of users consume data, take action based on that data and use information to drive outcomes. The Persona Pattern Template provides a structured way to capture this information about the users of an Information Product.
Personas are based on research about target users or consumers. They are typically assigned a name, an image, and a description of their characteristics, behaviours, goals, and motivations. The purpose of the Persona Template is to create a descriptive and specific representation of the users, helping the data team make more informed design and delivery decisions.
The Persona Template provides a structured way to lightly document:
The persona’s name;
A visual identifier;
A summary of their goals;
The part of the Information Value Stream the persona operates within;
Their level of data or tool use and preferred complexity of interaction
The type of data work the persona undertakes;
The generic action or outcome the persona is trying to achieve;
The typical users in your organisation who align with the persona;
Their preferred content delivery type, access device type, content focus, and level of data access.
By creating descriptive persona templates, data teams can ensure that the Information Product is designed and built with usability, accessibility, and value in mind.
